We have a wide variety of spaces available for hire.

Theatre

If you're looking for a climate-controlled theatre with a capacity of up to 385 people, we have the ideal space for your next creative performance project.

The Darebin Arts theatre is perfect for live performances such as dance, live music and concerts, circus, comedy, musicals and opera, theatre and film screenings.

Your new theatre space comes with a suite of features including:

  • a fly tower
  • an orchestra pit
  • a flexible lighting rig with LED and intelligent fixtures
  • an audio-visual solution with a dynamic sound system
  • and a complete projection suite.

Below the stage, you'll also have access to two 60 person dressing rooms with toilet, shower, and laundry facilities as well as an accessible lift to the stage.

In-house professional venue technicians

We have professional in-house venue technicians available to meet your production requirements; all the way from pre-production to event delivery.

Complete ticketing service

Darebin Arts Centre can also offer you a complete ticketing service through our in-house box office system. This service includes regular ticketing sales reports upon request.

Grevillea Room

The large circular Grevillea Room is 425 m² and can accommodate up to 400 people in theatre-style seating or up to 200 people in cabaret-style seating.

The room has polished oak timber floorboards and floor-to-ceiling black drapes, making it ideal for performances, community classes, rehearsals and developments. It also includes twin ceiling projectors and in-built audio system.

With its movable solid partition wall, you can also divide the space in half, forming the semicircular Jacaranda Room.

Studio Room

The studio room is 6.75 m x 15.7 is an inviting space for creative thinking and networking.

The room has polished Tasmanian oak floorboards, with plenty of natural lighting, and is the ideal space for local and emerging artists.

In line with our new business model, this dedicated arts centre is also available as a co-working space.

Exhibition Spaces

For visual artists, there are two sizeable exhibition spaces available at Darebin Arts Centre.

The first is our 9m x 9m Banksia Gallery. This natural light-filled space can also incorporate the adjacent corridors for larger exhibitions.

The second space is the Foyer which includes a 9-metre wall complete with hanging system and lighting. This is space is available for hung works only.

Both exhibition spaces are equipped with hanging systems throughout and plinths are available on request.

Commercial Kitchen

Darebin Arts Centre houses a large, fully equipped commercial kitchen (132m²) that offers an affordable cooking space.

The Kitchen is food licenced and available for leasing opportunities.

N.B. the Kitchen is currently booked out for 2022.
