Darebin Arts Speakeasy
Original. Unexpected. Always entertaining.
Announcing our Season One 2025
In the program, you’ll find big babies, blurred boundaries, mythical beings, blak queer excellence, boyhood secrets, bonnets and big feelings.
We’ll be back at Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre with a varied program of cutting-edge shows from Melbourne’s leading performing artists. Featuring absurd contemporary dance from Harrison Ritchie-Jones, a razor-sharp trans thriller by Eva Rees and Bullet Heart Club, fantastical visions from Sarah Aiken, intimate storytelling with wāni toaishara, and an all-star queer celebration hosted by 2Joocee and Samuel Gaskin.
On the Darebin Arts Centre stage, acclaimed theatre company Bloomshed will present a searing social satire dressed as a period drama.
This is art worth talking about. We invite you to experience it for yourself and join the conversation.
For those who would like to support new work and save some cash while you do it, we have a special offer for every ticketed show across the season. Until Tuesday 24 December, use the code EARLYBIRD at checkout for $20 tickets.
About Darebin Arts Speakeasy
Darebin Arts Speakeasy is an award-winning program that partners with artists and organisations to generate thrilling artistic presentations for audiences and engage our diverse community. It aims to provide the highest quality experiences to audiences at the Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre and the Darebin Arts Centre.
With a strong focus on equity and inclusivity, Darebin Arts Speakeasy plays an integral role in Australia’s artistic cultural ecosystem, working with independent artists and small to medium companies to develop and present new Australian works that interrogate our society, celebrate our diversity and champion the world we want to live in. Works are chosen through open application process, led by a selection panel of local independent artists and Darebin Arts programming staff.
The program incorporates a suite of access initiatives for artists and audiences to ensure arts participation for everyone. Our aim is to ensure people of all abilities are represented on stage and off, are empowered in decision making processes and supported to engage with creative culture in meaningful ways.
