Accession presents recent acquisitions from the Darebin Art Collection. The exhibition is representative of a cross-section of Australian contemporary art practices including video, ceramics, painting, photography, glass and craft. Including several new commissions specific to the Darebin municipality. It will be the first time many of these significant works in the collection have been revealed to the Darebin and wider arts community.

Presenting over 40 new works, Accession provides a contemporary chapter in the ongoing story of Bundoora Homestead Art Centre and the significance of the Darebin Art Collection. The artists presented include Brook Andrew, Megan Cope, Daniel Crooks, DAMP, Patrick Francis, Dale Harding, Matthew Harris, Claire McArdle, Claire Mooney, Steaphan Paton, David Ray, Yhonnie Scarce, Shannon Smiley, Fergus Binns and Steven Rhall, David Wadelton, Paul Wood and Alice Wormald.

Leading Art Historian Sasha Grishin says “The Darebin Art Collection, while anchored within a definable local community and the physical location of Darebin and adjoining municipalities, also seeks to position itself within a broader understanding of the fluid and constantly changing local visual culture, noting its new technologies and seeing the collection as part of a broader region.”
