Giselle is a story of a young peasant girl who falls deeply in love with a man she believes to be a simple villager named Loys. However, Loys is actually Count Albrecht in disguise, who is already betrothed to another. When Giselle discovers the truth, she is heartbroken and descends into madness, ultimately dying of a broken heart. In the second act, Giselle becomes a Wilis, a spirit of a young woman who has died before her wedding day. The Wilis, led by their queen Myrtha, seek vengeance on men by dancing them to death. When Albrecht visits Giselle's grave, she protects him from the Wilis, demonstrating the power of true love and forgiveness.
