Poetry in Place

A creative writing workshop led by Susie Anderson

Presented by Darebin Arts as part of the inSITU: Workshop Program

What does the world around you have to say? Pay attention. You’ll find that every place has hidden layers waiting to share meaning.

In this workshop you will look at the places you encounter daily and surface things from your inner world - places within your imagination.

Using the idea of "emotional landscapes" as a springboard, we will create poetry reflecting on what is embedded in places around us. Places have their own memory of the social, cultural, Indigenous, historical, ordinary, spectacular or boring things that happened there.

Led by textures, sights, sounds and smells, you'll be encouraged to shift your attention and see what the poetry of place reveals.

The Darebin Intercultural Centre is fully wheelchair accessible, has all gender bathrooms, a prayer room and a low sensory space.

If you would like to come along and require Auslan Interpretation please send us an email at writingprojects@darebin.vic.gov.au.
