In this hands-on workshop you’ll learn how to upcycle second-hand jewellery and shimmering glass prisms into stunning suncatchers that scatter rainbows across your home.

Artist Allanah Sarafian will guide you step-by-step in crafting your own unique piece using pre-loved treasures—giving new life to forgotten materials while creating something truly magical. Whether you’re making one for yourself or as a handmade gift for someone special, these radiant creations are sure to brighten any day.

No experience necessary—just bring your creativity and a little curiosity.

About the Facilitator

Allanah Sarafian is a predominantly textile artist known for her playful and tactile works created through tufting. Her art has been exhibited at venues including Bundoora Homestead Art Centre, and her background spans visual art education, costume design, and puppetry performance—including starring as Chilli in Bluey’s Big Play (as seen on ABC iView).

Ten years ago, Allanah spotted a discarded chandelier on the side of the road. She took it home, carefully dismantled it and has been using its glass prisms in her work ever since. That moment sparked a lifelong love for found objects and upcycling—core themes that continue to shape her practice today. Allanah’s workshops are an extension of that ethos: joyful, imaginative spaces where creativity and sustainability go hand-in-hand.
