Elbow Room have been making award-winning theatre in Naarm/Melbourne since 2008. Each one of their eighteen shows has been a process of discovery, built through collaboration, curiosity, and a spirit of shared play. No two of them have been made the same way.
In April and May, as part of their residency at Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre, Elbow Room are holding three open workshops and three development sessions. If you have an idea, at any stage of its life, or even just a burning question, these workshops and sessions are an opportunity to find the next question.
Workshops will be guided and facilitated by Elbow Room co-artistic directors Emily Tomlins and Marcel Dorney, on Monday evenings. Each one is an opportunity to meet other theatre-makers, to share ideas and experiences, to discuss processes and challenges, and find new paths forward.
The Development Sessions will take place on Saturday afternoons, and will be structured around particular challenges - assembling a team, developing a concept, and finding your audience.
All workshops and development sessions are cost-free and open to all. All you need to do is sign up, and let us know what you’re interested in! The sign-up sheet for each workshop and session will open one week beforehand.
Capacity is strictly limited.
