Hot Brown Honey by Briefs Factory

A group of Blak women cluster in a bunch wearing yellow and brown track suits. Many have large dark hair styles and are making funny faces.

Presented by Darebin Arts Speakeasy, as part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival

In a high-energy explosion of Joyous Rage and Radical Fierce Love through genre-defying performance, Hive City Legacy - Naarm Chapter is set to ignite the stage with an electrifying collective roar.  Through the act of decolonising one stage at a time, this brand-new work is a vibrant collision of theatre, movement, poetry, music, comedy and circus - a collective love letter to honour those who came before us and empower those still fighting for visibility,  justice and representation.

Created by the critically acclaimed, award-winning Hot Brown Honey (Helpmann, Green Rooms, UK Total Theatre Award) and in collaboration with seven fierce BIPOC Femme artists, Hive City Legacy – Naarm Chapter has been developed through an intensive, process-driven creative journey shaped by professional development, mentorship, skill-sharing and collective collaboration. Now, it’s Naarm’s time to shine!

Reviews

“It was one of those shows you see where its not just THEATRE or CABARET, it’s the beginning of a massive movement, or it’s a subversion of knowledge that you hold dear, or a mighty sucker punch to the things you thought theatre was capable of…” – Bryony Kimmings (UK)

"Costumes are sensational. The whole show is an episode of manic, attitude-driven fun." - Liza Defouli, Beat magazine
