Homicidal Pacifist by Sameena Zehra

A Southeast Asian woman with short dark hair stares with wide eyes into the camera. Behind her are slashes of red.

Presented by Darebin Arts Speakeasy, as part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival

'Sparks with the unsuppressed anger of Denis Leary & beats with the political heart of Bill Hicks…a show that's brave, funny, fiery and true.' - Herald, Scotland.

It's time to cull the human race. But how is a lifelong believer in non-violence to choose? By making a list. A culling list. Be ready to gasp, guffaw & maybe suggest a person or two for the cull.

In this new show, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2014, Sameena combines the weight of her political opinions with her particular brand of caustic, dark humour, in a ‘playfully demonic’ (Tony Allen) show that explores the sublime and the ridiculous, whether there is hope for the human race (On balance there is. Maybe. Possibly. Who knows?), and how civilisation makes hypocrites of us all.
