A Weekend for Everybody

A man with short dark hair wears a black tshirt with a colourful triangle on the chest. His hands are raised in the air as if clapping.

Presented by Darebin Arts and Melbourne Fringe

Come along to a weekend full of FREE creative arts activities, events and workshops. Featuring a youth stage music program, food trucks, coffee carts, an epic battle of Truth or Dare and the world’s smallest night club.

Families are invited to participate in a weekend full of high-energy, fun and accessible events at Northcote Town Hall, Civic Square.

Events include:
  • Truth or Dare by Sibylle Peters / Theatre of Research (Germany)
Impossible questions and ridiculous tasks can only mean one thing – a good ol’ fashioned game of Truth or Dare. This interactive performance piece crowd-sources questions from young people – say, questions about peculiar adult behaviour, or fundamental curiosities about life – and then builds them into an interactive game, with adults and children working together to, yes, that’s right – play Truth or Dare. In public. What could possibly go wrong?
  • Infinity Dance Jam by Joseph (JOF) O'Farrell
Welcome to the smallest nightclub in the world! Internationally acclaimed artist, JOF, takes over Northcote Town Hall Civic Square with his latest family friendly work! There will be free workshops and relaxed performances for young people with disabilities, plus a free public dance class. Note that spaces for the workshop are limited and booking is essential.
  • Club Kids Music Academy by Dale Packard
Kids are invited to experiment with samplers, drum machines and keyboards at Club Kids Music Academy — a space where children have the opportunity to learn, play, tinker and share in the fun of creating experimental electronic music. Children of all ages and abilities are welcome to come play with the ‘grown-up toys’ used by today’s top musicians.
  • FReeZA Youth Stage
Come along to the FReeZA Youth Stage, presented by the FReeZA Darebin and FReeZA Banyule. Rock out from between 12 – 2pm Saturday and Sunday.
