How does a poem set a scene? And how then might that scene tell a story? Looking specifically to the form of the prose poem, this workshop will consider the intricate but seemingly mundane details often overlooked in our daily lives, as framed by contemporary local and international poets. Differentiating the form from flash fiction, we will explore narrative worlds as depicted through prose poetry, alternating between reading, writing and discussion. Pointing to tableaus and minutiae, participants will learn to tell robust stories by simply zooming in.
