It is primarily an English language film with a small amount of Hindi and Punjabi dialogue. Lalita Bakshi is an independent, intelligent young woman who lives in Amritsar with her family. With the family facing financial pressures, her mother Mrs Bakshi is desperate to match her daughters with eligible men and secure their futures. When the easy-going and wealthy British-Indian barrister Balraj, and the even wealthier and not-so-easy-going American hotelier Will Darcy enter the scene, romantic entanglements, miscommunications and clashing ideas ensue.
