Screening: Bathtub Analogy by Rosie Isaac

Rosie Isaac 'Bathtub Analogy' screening WEB.png
Join us for the debut screening of Rosie Isaac’s Bathtub Analogy.

This new video work was adapted from a performance lecture about altered plant growth, landfill chemistry and quarrying at the Darebin Parklands and across Naarm/Melbourne.

Bathtub Analogy tells the story of the artist’s encounter with the park and its chemical history through a conversation with the park ranger, Pete Wiltshire. The work moves between scales – considering Wurundjeri custodianship, histories of extraction, and waste management across the city. The work goes on to consider, through 135 years’ worth of depictions of the park and beyond, the microscopic relationships between molecules in the water, soils and plants.

Following the screening, join us for a conversation featuring:

  • Rosie Isaac | Artist
  • Uncle Jason Tweedie | Wurundjeri man
  • Ranger Pete Wiltshire | Darebin Parklands
  • Lana Nguyen | Producer, curator & community arts worker
  • Sarah Werkmeister | Bundoora Homestead Art Centre Curator
We are delighted to welcome Bathtub Analogy to the Darebin Art Collection. Learn more about the Collection here.

Bathtub Analogy was originally conceived as a performance lecture as part of the Stranger than Fiction exhibition, curated by Joanna Kitto at West Space, Melbourne in 2024.
